Welcome to the Alford Valley Railway

Scotlands first 2ft Narrow Gauge passenger railway, running a service every 40 min. from Alford to Haughton Park.

Experience the Joy of the Railway -
Nothing evokes memories of a more civilised era than an old fashioned train ride! Experience a little piece of history on one of our beautifully restored trains, running between April and September. For children, as well as adults, we have our Santa Specials operating during the first two weekends of December.

Special Announcement - Bookbug Family Fun Day 10.0am - 2pm Thurs. 2nd September
To celebrate the re-branding of Bookstart to Bookbug in Aberdeenshire, a special event will take place at Haughton Park on Thursday 2nd September 2010. Scottish Book Trust, Aberdeenshire Libraries and partner organisations especially welcome families with children aged 0 - 4 years to the BOOKBUG FAMILY DAY!

Alford Valley Railway is privileged to be an associate of this venture. Please come and take the train to the Family Day!

September Timetable Changes
Please refer to our Timetable page for new changes affecting our September running times. A number of outside factors have caused us to revise operational times and we hope, sincerely, that this does not inconvenience you.

Please be aware that there can be a number of general reasons for closing the service at short notice, eg. unplanned maintenance, bad weather affecting the golf course and line etc. Please contact us at the telephone numbers provided if you require information on times of operation or bookings.
